Our Groups

LIFE IS MEANT TO BE LIVED IN CIRCLES, NOT ROWS.

At Rocky we want to walk with you on this pathway of discipleship. Here is our process for continued growth along this journey:

  • ROOTED
  • Groups (Community, Women’s, Men’s)
  • The Journey
  • Thoroughly Equipped

WHAT IS ROOTED?

Rooted is an interactive experience. In the course of 10 weeks, you will get together weekly with your group to talk about what God has been revealing to you as you go through the week’s readings, journal entries, and prayer. You will also learn from one another as the Holy Spirit works to comfort, encourage and guide each member. This is a great next step after of BaseCamp to walk with others as we partner our lives with Jesus, His Church and His Mission.

Your group will share three experiences together outside of your group time: prayer, serving, and sharing your story. After the last session, you’ll join together with other groups and celebrate how God is working to connect each of you with your passion, your purpose, and your community.

INTERESTED IN JOINING A COMMUNITY GROUP?

Our Community Groups consist of a small group of people who seek to build community, grow spiritually, love where they live and live on mission. If you haven’t been through ROOTED, we encourage you to start there as the groups that go through ROOTED will most likely become a Community Group. If you’ve been through ROOTED or are want to join a group now, you can GO HERE to find a community group.

INTERESTED IN JOINING A MEN’S OR WOMEN’S GROUP?

WHAT IS THE JOURNEY?

The Journey seeks to invite you, along with a fellow group of travelers, into a personal exploration of three primary questions in your life: Who is God? Who am I? What does God desire to do through me? These are questions we never grow out of—in reality, we grow into them along the way of following Jesus. This seven to eight month process uniquely integrates leadership development, discipleship, and spiritual formation in a holistic, relationship-based style.

The next season of The Journey begins in mid-September.

WHAT IS THOROUGHLY EQUIPPED?

Thoroughly Equipped (TE) is a process for “higher-end” discipleship with a focus on lay-leadership development and creating “thoroughly equipped” disciple-makers.

“Thoroughly Equipped” is the goal—that “the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (I Tim 3:17). What does that take? Knowledge, experiences, and skills; better theology, spiritual disciplines, and walking with the Spirit.

TE is a 21-month program of Bible study, Bible reading, and Bible memorization—in a sequence of seven “semesters”—from DC101’s foundations to DC403’s concluding topics (with Bible reading, service projects, and socials during three “semester breaks”).

    • Bible Memory: Over the 21 months, TE’ers memorize at least 70 verses.
    • Bible Reading
      • The first 9 months, TE’ers read all of the New Testament—and some of
the New Testament (Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon, and a
significant sampling of the Psalms). On average, TE’ers read about 11
chapters per week, with weekly reading in Proverbs.
      • Over the final 12 months, TE’ers read the rest of the Old Testament at a
somewhat faster pace, with weekly readings in the Psalms.
      • During the three “semester breaks”, TE’ers read (and do light studies of)
        Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Isaiah.
    • Bible Study (DC stands for Disciple-Making Curriculum)
      • DC101: The Foundation—basic doctrine and Bible study tools
      • DC201-202: Building on the Foundation—standard applications
      • DC301: An Intro to Building Leaders—a more intimate look inside the heart; and building the heart and skills of a teacher
      • DC401-403: Building Leaders—deeper applications and thornier doctrinal issues

TE is meant to be a guided self-study—studying on one’s own and then working with a facilitator-led group—through material designed to enhance one’s walk with Christ and empower one to be a more effective leader within the kingdom of God.

TE is a systematic walk through a set of topics, skills, and experiences that will encourage you to become a more effective apprentice of Jesus—a program to transform how you see God and how others see Christ in you, rather than simply a set of good lessons or a good Bible course.

Through TE and Holy Spirit, we hope to develop competence and confidence—and to promote a vision of living and working in God’s Kingdom.
